i love weddings! drinks all around!

so this past weekend, i headed up to kamloops for my cousin Ariane's wedding.
the wedding itself was beautiful, the drive up there and the drive back... not so much.
a combination of carsickness, arguing, getting lost and being crammed into an overstuffed car made for a really unpleasant drive up.
and with a combination of food poisoning, hangovers and lack of sleep, the drive back wasn't much of an improvement.
but enough about the bad stuff, let's get to the good.

the ranch was the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding.
the weather turned out just right, even though it was unpleasantly cold after dark. but with enough to drink and a good dance beat, one hardly notices the cold.
the ceremony was short and sweet.
it was hard not to get teary eyed when my cousin Becca walked down the aisle, preceding her sister, crying like i've never seen before and looking oh so pretty in her little blue dress.
and then of course Ariane came around the corner, looking absolutely stunning in an elegant flowy gown, very befitting the bride's personality.
and when the first few tears sprung loose from Hansie's eyes as the two were wed, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. or... on the patio, as we were...
there was a brief time between ceremony and dinner where guests could mingle and grab a drink and such.
there were also games set up around the lawn, such as croquet, which i didn't partake in as i was much too distracted by the ice cream bar.
that's right. my awesome cousin had a freezer full of giant tubs of ice cream, a huge stack of cones and a sign that read "help yourself" at her wedding. amazing. and delicious!
then came time for dinner, which was set up in a tent on the grassy front lawn.
in order to decide which table got to eat first, and which next, there was a game. a trivia game. about the newlyweds. it was a lot of fun screaming out the answers, even after our table had already been fed.
there was also a microphone set up for anyone who wished to come up and say a few words or share a story about the happy couple, in order to get them to kiss. this was instead of the usual clinking of the glass game. if one did not want to speak, the deal was you had to come up and take a shot instead. this was quite entertaining.
some people sang, some people told little stories, some people simply said their congratulations, but it was very interesting to hear each and every person who approached the mic.
then came time for the speeches, which were just beyond words. so touching, so humorous, so plain and simply fabulous. i was close to tears the whole way through.
soon after was cake. delicious, delicious cupcakes actually. lemon, chocolate and coconut cupcakes. i had a lemon one. omnomnom.
and then it was time for the first dance, which led us away from the dinner tent and back up to the patio where the ceremony had been held. another touching moment.
and then, the party began.
while i'd like to say i shook my groove thang and danced the night away like a crazy fool, sadly, this is not the truth.
in actual fact, i left early due to an unpleasant and unyielding headache which was making the fun and good times a lot less fun. i danced a few songs and rocked out to Don't Stop Believing with my dad (which the rest of the crowd was oddly enough doing a conga line to...) then i decided to call it quits and went to bed. sadly, this meant i missed the Mika song my cousin Brie had put on the music mix especially for me.
but i hear it was a great party lasting until approximately 3am. and there are some crazy pictures to prove it!
and boy, the stories i heard about that nights events... hilarious. like the way my cousin Kirsten ran through the fields and my dad thought she was a ghost. especially after she 'disappeared'. in actual fact, she tried to jump over the fence and fell. hah.
while i'm sad i missed out on the awesome party, i'm so glad i went to this gorgeous wedding.
i love my family. i can't wait to have a wedding of my own with you crazy bunch!

Ariane and Hansie, I wish you all the best. You are a perfect match & a beautiful couple.
Congratulations.

spn.

I've never really given much thought to the concept of a 'best day of my life' but today could be referred to as just that.
I spent the day with a few friends and many people I've never even met before and I had the time of my life.
You know those moments where you just stop and think to yourself, "My God, I'm glad to be alive."?
Yeah, the whole day felt like that.
Obsession is love, people.
What could possibly be more fun than spending an entire day with like-minded people, obsessed with the same thing as you are? in this case, a tv show.
Yes, it's nerdy. Yes, it's a little weird. But by golly is it ever fun!
To be able to squee and quote and reference and understand each other and not receive any "wtf" stares!
I laughed so much I snorted, lost my breath, and my cheeks were sore!
By the end of the night, we'd taken to adding "That's what she said" and "In my pants" to the end of every sentence, which made the car ride home that much more enjoyable.
If I weren't so damn tired (it being the middle of the night and all) I'd write out a few hilarious quotes of the day.
OH! But some really cool things happened too!
So, I've lived here my whole life, I've been downtown a million times, I know that there are constantly celebrities and actors in the city to film whatever movie/tv show etc that they happen to be doing, but I've never in all my life just randomly seen someone walking around or shopping or anything of the sort. (lawl run on sentence)
Today, however, I saw four.
The Ashmore twins, (who are shockingly good looking irl. not that they aren't on screen as well, but wooo damn.) the kid from Diary of a Wimpy Kid (yeah, whatever, who cares right?), and, get this... Mitch Pileggi, who played Samuel Campbell in Supernatural!! Grandpa Winchester! (this means nothing to non-Supernatural fans, but means just about everything to us)
He was sitting directly behind us at Earls at the end of the night, how amazing is that?!
And, after finding out that it was one girl's birthday at our table (Happy Birthday Stephanie!), he actually came over to our table to chat, take pictures and sign autographs.
We explained that we were all big Supernatural fans, and were all (except me) going to the convention this weekend, which he is not in fact attending. I believe he's here for filming. For Supernatural. I could be wrong though. Uhh, spoiler alert? I guess... whoops.
Anywhoo!
My mind is on over drive and I can't really remember what I came on here to write about anymore, so I guess I'll end this here.

Tomorrow morning I'm off to Kamloops for my cousin's wedding. It shall be amazing.
Upon my return I will edit and upload my New York video, the footage from today, and hopefully the footage from the wedding as well.
Hm. Well, maybe not all in the same night. But I'll try to get it all done asap.

Shit. I should really go to bed.
Goodnight world, you are a lovely and beautiful place.

what is a blog

y'know when you just need to release something,
when you have something to say, but noone in particular to say it to?
that's what a blog is.
when there's something you want to say, but nobody there to hear you, the internet will always lend an ear.
when you have a story to tell or you just want to talk, your blog is always there.
that's what i love about the internet.
that's what i love about you, blogger.
even if noone ever reads this, the liberating feeling of just writing it is worth it.

Hello Internet!

Why hello there Blogger!
Long time no see! I have really missed you!
And all aspects of the internet, really...
I will attempt to get back into the flow of things now that everything is starting to settle down a bit over here...
It's been a hectic couple of months.
Between moving, work, some other personal matters and New York, I've barely had time to think.
And on the rare occasion I do have time to myself, I've generally been spending it asleep. Or watching Criminal Minds, because I'm currently obsessed with that show.
(So much love for the ever so sexy Dr. Spencer Reid! And the massively awesome Penelope Garcia! And the super badass Derek Morgan!)
So, I'm sorry for not updating much.
And I'm sorry for not keeping touch with all you gals out there, whom I miss very dearly.
Things are really looking up around here as far as furniture, boxes and organization is concerned.
Though, it's still a big fat mess, I think the nickel has finally dropped.
I've got some lovely new furniture (a desk and a dresser) and just recently acquired a stunning new bed frame!
That was one hell of a hunt to find just the right one, but we finally did.
I get the mattress and box spring next week.
Slowly but surely, things are becoming more clear and organized.
Phew, it feels good.
And it'll feel even better when it's all done!
Which will hopefully be soon, since my mum's cousin is coming from Denmark to stay with us in... oh, just under two weeks?
Hmmm...
Wish us luck!

what an enjoyable evening!

I went to see Charlie St. Cloud and I actually really liked it.
Though, that might be my immense lust for Zac Efron talking...
I mean, just look at him!
kdjfhskjghfd.
so. attractive.

I went with a couple fabulous people and we had a blast and a half.
what made the evening so enjoyable was spending time with the two of them, because it's such a rare occurance these days.
you two ladies are hilariously awesome!! and I really miss you! let's hang again soon, mmkay??

"I wonder what Zac Efron would look like with a beard..."
