comfortable silences, giggles and good tunes.

I have some amazing friends in my life and for that I am blessed. The past couple days have been amazing and it's nice to know I have true friends to turn to when I need them.

I've just been thinking about friendship lately. Actually, it's something I think about quite often. The different types of friendships, the layers of friendships, the complications of friendships. I think there are many kinds of friends.
I'm a true believer in the phrase

"Friends for a reason, friends for a season, friends for life."

There are the friends who are there for a time, to teach you something, to show you something you've never seen, do with you the things you've never done before. They teach you their lesson and you remember it forever. These are the friends that shape you, change you, form you, in whatever way. Friends for a reason.

There are the types of friends with whom you share an inexplicable, sudden and strong bond with, but are only around for a short time. These are the friends you have something in common with and it brings you together, but when that common bond is lost, often times, so is the friendship. And it's a blast to have these types of friends. The ones you think back on and think, "Wow, that was a great.." summer or year or week or whatever. Friends for a season.

And then there are the friends who you turn to when something major happens. The friends you text just because you feel like it. The ones you want to share everything with and you feel perfectly comfortable doing so. The friends who understand your personal boundaries and you theirs. The friends who you can spend nearly 24 hours straight with, and somehow, you don't want to kill each other. The friends you can sit in comfortable silence with for lengthy periods of time, nothing to say, nothing needed to be said. Friends for life.

And I think there are many friends in between. There are the friends you're only friends with out of obligation (ie. your parents are friends or you've known each other so long it seems strange not to be), there are the friends you go to when you need a good laugh or some cheering up, there are the friends who are only really your friends in specific situations (ie. in high school, the kids you were only friends with when you were in *insert class here* but barely spoke to outside of that), the ones who you rarely see but always know you can count on, the ones who you have nothing in common with but somehow still manage to forge a friendship, the friends who you fight with more than you laugh with, the ones you can go forever without seeing and yet it feels like no time has passed when you meet again. And endless amounts more.

I don't know if I believe in the idea of a "Best Friend" simply because it's hard for one person to fully encompass all of the things these many different people provide. There have been times in my life, as recently as last week, when I have thought "Yes, definitely. So and so is my best. friend." But I also sometimes feel in a lot of ways that is an immature way of thinking of it. Why must a person have one best friend? Sure, the idea of it seems desirable, and it's certainly portrayed enough in the media that this is the norm. But isn't it possible for a person to have more than one "best friend" and a few good friends or close friends or whatever else?

I think every friend serves a different purpose in your life and you should love and respect them equally for who they are and what they have to offer.

Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe I'm tired (because, I mean, it is past one o'clock in the morning) but this is how I feel. And I may change my mind, because I tend to do that. This really wasn't what I had come on here to say initially, but I'll go with it. What I really wanted to say was that I had a really lovely night with a really good friend and that I thoroughly enjoy those comfortable silences and listening to a really good playlist. But I went on a bit of a ramble here that I've kind of been sitting on for quite some time, though I may have posted about this before... Anyways. I in no way intend for this to be hurtful to anyone, so if you think I am speaking about you somewhere in here in a negative way, I can assure you that is not my intent and I do not devalue any friendships I have had in my life time. I treasure and value every and all of them and I hope you believe that.
Good night.

VEDJ is over

This is weird. All day I've been wanting to make a video. Feeling like it was necessary.
However, it is no longer January and therefore no longer required of me to make a video every day. I know a few VEDJers have decided to continue into February and beyond (lol)
I thought about this. But ultimately I decided against it, for many reasons.
However, I'm not giving up video making by any means. I intend to make several videos a week, maybe three or four with any luck. So keep your eyes peeled for Alphabetically Me on Thursdays, the Supernatural Saturday Segment and whatever else I happen to feel like posting whenever I feel like posting it :)

Moving on!

I dyed my hair and it turned out a funny blonde/gray/whatever/blah colour, so tomorrow I will be dying it over again D: hopefully I can fix it this time...
If not, well, I guess I'll be going dark a lot sooner than I had anticipated...

I bought a canvas at the dollar store today because I feel like being artsy and painting a picture so eff y'all. Unfortunately... I didn't buy paint. So for now it's just a pencil sketch until I make it colourful and purdy.

I cleaned and reorganized my bedroom yesterday and it's already looking like I barely touched it. How does this happen in just a day? Huff Puff!

I am listening to the Tangled soundtrack right now because it is amazing and fun.

OH OH OHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Panic! At The Disco have released their new single and preorders for their album/deluxe box sets etc and I'm COMPLETELY OBSESSED AND EXCITED.
For like, a week I've been listening to The Ballad Of Mona Lisa pretty much nonstop. And when I saw the new promo pics? My God, it was embarrassing. I was fangirling all over the place! Luckily, I was in the presence of someone awesome and very understanding of my nerdy, dorky, fangirly self. Whew!

And lastly, I'm thinking about starting a new project whereby I take a picture of myself every day (or maybe just every so often, when I'm feeling particularly "fashionable" or something) and call it What Did You Wear Today. Thoughts? Opinions? Yes? No? Stupid? Maybe...

Supernatural Party of Awesome

Soooooooo... last night a bunch of incredibly awesome people gathered in an incredibly awesome place for incredibly awesome reasons...
It was a celebration of our friendship. A friendaversary, if you will.
We did not all meet on the exact same day, but it's all connected. So and so met so and so who knew whats-her-face and such. And through that, we have all become friends. Sadly, not all of us could be together on this joyous occasion, simply because we don't all live in the same country. But those who came are awesome and I am so glad to have them in my life.

In honour of this friendaversary, I thought I would share the greatest video in existence and link you to the website from whence it came. Relevant because upon first meeting my pal Lisa, I forced her to watch it and babbled quite endlessly about its hilariosity and greatness. So... here.

Also, watch my new video about last night, too kay? :)

  • Some of the best moments/quotes/tweets of last night.

  • "Jared's naked and I need a boyfriend."

  • "Sam on stripper pole. Yes please."

"You must be at least six feet to enjoy this ride ;)"

  • "instead of talking to each other they are all tweeting eachother"

    "PORN."

  • "ooow my hair hurts!"

  • "Steak in my pants"

"why did they break up?"..."because he shot her in the face"

"she's not drunk, but she can't get it in." ... "that's what she said."

"there's this huge red hunka chunka thing..."

"the sword goes inside." "...that's what she said."

"we're so shallow! And dirty! Its like a kiddie pool in here!"

I love you guys. All of you.

ohhmygawdomgomgomgomgggg

It's been a long while, blogger.
I'm sorry for that.
I could sit here and give you a long list of reasons and/or excuses as to why that is but, let's skip that gub and get right on to the usual rambling.

So, VEDJ has generally been kicking my ass this month. It's quite a lot of work to make a video every day, and while I certainly enjoy it, I do start to wonder about the quality of what I produce. Although, it doesn't really matter because I vlog about the same general stuff I did before, only much more frequently. Thoughts have crossed my mind of extending this project to -attempt- to make videos every day from now until... infinity. But such thoughts were quickly vanquished from my brain as I realized I'm just far too lazy for that. Although, I do intend to make videos much more often. Weekly themed videos (ie, the Alphabetically Me segment I have been doing on Tuesdays) and sporadic ones in between. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time on YouTube. It's such a fun hobby, and ultimately I feel good doing it. It makes me smile. I hope to continue to make videos, whether anyone watches them or not. Because that isn't why I do it. I don't make videos to please other people, I don't go around begging for subscribers. I make videos for three main reasons a) I'm bored b) I like to talk to myself, about myself and c) It makes me feel good. Confident. Happy. and I like that.

Also, I suppose I should mention, that I got my braces this week. Monday, the 17th, I went down, sat uncomfortably in a chair, with a strange apparatus holding my mouth open and my tongue away from where they were attaching the braces, for approximately an hour and a half. What fun! Oh, and then, they decided to tell me I will soon need teeth removed to "achieve the look that I'm after" Really? I call bullshit. I was never informed of even the vague possibility of tooth removal and what "look" are you talking about? I never asked for any "look" I just want this damn overbite fixed. Nothing more, thanks. We are waiting to hear back from my orthodontist to determine whether or not this tooth removal business is mandatory. I'd rather skip it, if that's at all possible....
Oh, right. I was talking about braces! Well, they're on there. Uhh, well, the bottom ones anyway. The top set don't get put on until next month. Silly, I know, but that's how they planned it. They've so far been quite irritating and difficult to get used to. Little things I didn't realize I did or would be a potential problem are starting to become painful and unpleasant. Eating is a bit of a chore. Food selection is so limited, due to being unable to chew much (ouch! painful!) as well as allergies. And then of course, swallowing is the worst part. Have you ever tried swallowing without allowing any portion of your tongue to touch your teeth? Try it. It ain't easy. And it's not nearly as noticeably difficult for you, since you don't have hunks of pointed metal just sitting there, waiting to stab away at the soft flesh.
But I know they are a necessary evil, however unpleasant they may be, it will be worth it in the end to look in the mirror, smile and be happy with the smile I see.

This is just a wall o' text tonight! I do apologize! For that, and for my lack of updates on a regular basis. I have been spending all my time over on Youtube, Tumblr, and obsessively watching Gilmore Girls. I'm very busy and important! xD

Alright, well enough about me. (who the hell else would I be talking about? It's my blog!)
I shall now go struggle to floss and brush my aching teeth (did I mention they were aching? oh yes, the lovely pressure of the metal is quite dandy!) and curl up to a few episodes of good ol' GG. I've just started season six, and am very upset. Lorelai and Rory are currently not on speaking terms and because I identify with their relationship so much, it hurts me on a deep, meaningful level that I don't expect you to understand. (lawl, jk, I'm feeling pompous tonight.)

Sweet Germany, I just wrote another wall o' text!
So sorry! xD

GOODNIGHT.
FO REAL THIS TIME.

*edit*
oh shitballs, I forgot to tell you what page I'm on in Harry Potter!

VEDJ and random thoughts

So, as most of you probably know, I've decided to partake in Video Every Day in January.
It's been a lot of fun so far, but I'm only four days in and I'm starting to really freak myself out. What in the hell am I going to make videos about for the next 27 days?!
This thought hadn't occurred to me before because I thought I had it in the bag with Alphabetically Me, but now.... Ack!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Otherwise, things are just fine and dandy in Racheland.
I'm working on getting a second job, as I've decided I want to go to VidCon this year. VidCon is essentially a YouTube convention. It'll be held in LA at the end of July and so, I have to save up quite a bit of money to get myself there...
If you know of anywhere that's hiring, do let me know! (especially if they pay more than $9 an hour)
I'm saving all my coinages as well, so if you happen to have any spare change you wanna toss my way... ;)

I've also gotten back into Gilmore Girls recently.
And I've gotta admit -- I'm starting to fall for Logan.
Stupid charming, snarky blonde boy with good bone structure and attractive voice.
Impossible to resist!
I've also been listening to a lot of Eddplant lately. Particularly "Hush" it's such a beautiful song. Of course, "You're Not There" is wonderful, too.
Oh yes, and Laura and I have had much discussion about an upcoming project which I am very excited for and can't wait to share with you all! But, not until VEDJ is done... whew.
I'm also working on a few other creative projects of my own, which I may or may not share eventually... we'll see.
Aaaaaaaannnd, I went to see Tangled recently. I loveloveloved it. Great characters, cute little story, memorable songs and an overall wonderful feel. I highly suggest you go see it.

Alright, enough of me wasting your time.
I'm off to watch Criminal Minds/Gilmore Girls/Big Wolf On Campus. I haven't decided yet...

I took this picture on New Years Day. It makes me smile.
